20 days of Hackensack in the summer

I spent 20 days photographing daily life in Hackensack during July and August 2021. From summer concerts and Sunday service to the beautiful evening sky reflecting off the Hackensack River, view the images I captured from those 20 days.

As the coronavirus continues to ravage our communities and our downtowns, photojournalist Mitsutaro Yasukawa spent weeks chronicling the devastating effect the virus has had on business. These poignant, expertly done photographs put into context the reality of how hard-hit New Jersey businesses have been and what we have lost as a community. And it serves as a reminder about how serious the pandemic continues to be not only in New Jersey, but across our nation.
